Adventure Dog Walking

Our group adventure walks are conducted in a variety of local parks, beaches, fenced dog parks in and around Adelaide. Going to a variety of places ensures it is new and exciting for your dog with new places to explore. 

Once at our destination we walk, run, sniff and play for a minimum of and usually one hour but up to ninety minutes. Water is available and a couple of treats are also given.

Dogs love being in their natural pack environment. After passing our recall testing your dog will love freedom to explore. New dogs will initially be walked on a lead or in the fenced park until they get to know myself and the pack. If you are only doing one walk a week this can take some time. Each dog is different, because you can walk your own dog off lead it doesn't mean that we can, we need to test and develop that bond first. It can depend how well socialised, relaxed and comfortable your dog is as to how quickly they settle in. If your dog is very young or you have used a daycare or walking service before they will usually settle in very quickly, maybe even on the first walk. For under socialised dogs I'd recommend doing at least 2-3 walks in the first couple of weeks, as this makes it easier for your dog to get used to being away from you and in new environments, also to understand they go out to have fun and then come home again. After becoming aquatinted within the group I would like your dog, with your approval, to graduate to walking off lead in saying that off lead is not always appropriate for all dogs and I will only remove the lead when you and I are confident. After a couple of walks on a normal length lead we can graduate to a long lead to test their recall. Next step is to drop the lead, I also fit a tracking device to be sure. Before going off lead I would consult with you. Dogs are only off lead whilst away from roads and any distractions. When off lead they will benefit from maximum exercise. If off lead is not at all suitable and you would like your dog to remain on lead I can accomodate your request. All dogs are always on lead to and from the van and in any area near roads or traffic.

In wet weather we will always ensure you pooch still gets their walk and you would need to cancel if you'd rather your dog isn't walked on wet days. Dogs are towel dried before their return home. 

Before your dog’s first walk I will need to come and meet you and your dog. You will need to complete the two forms on the forms page of this web site. They are in pdf format so you can print them directly from the site and fill it out or email back to me. If keys are required to collect your dog you may wish to provide these.

Dogs on group walks must be socialised and compatible with other dogs. If your dog is not socialised an individual walk may be appropriate (refer prices tab for details).

Holiday Care

I offer pet sitting and boarding in my home. If you are only away for a short time (one to three days) I'm also happy to walk and feed your dog from your home.

I will send you pictures and updates of how they are going and enjoying their time while you are away.

If staying at my home and there is no established prior walking/boarding relationship I am available to look after your dog if socialised, house trained and well behaved BUT would need to do a walk and an overnight trial before confirming a booking (regular prices apply). I need to do this as there may be 1 or 2 other dogs staying too, its not a boarding kennel set up.  If you are looking for stays last minute and I'm not familiar with your dog unfortunately I am not suitable. A trial stay makes your dogs time much easier and I also need to know how well they will cope being away from home.

When staying at my home your dog will accompany me and our other doggy friends on walks for the day (usually two or three walks) so they will be occupied and not have time to miss you.  After their day out they will sleep in my home on a nice warm bed in my house. 

I offer very reliable pet sitting services so you will know your beloved pets will be given the highest attention and care. I will walk, feed and take your dog on group walks or an individual walk if required (rates negotiated for individual walks). If you have other pets I can look after them also. You can enjoy your time away relaxed knowing that they are getting the best care and are in safe hands. I can also collect your mail, papers, water plants, turn on lights and the like.

Details:

  • Half Day Care Includes 3 to 4 hours care and two back to back one hour walks.  This service is not available on weekends.
  • Grooming appointments, on availability on the day of a walk. We will drop off or pick up from your local groomer. No Charge
  • Wash and towel dry. Available on the day with a walk only.
  • Vet appointments. We will take your dog to their appointment. This could be combined on the day of a walk *plus extra fee.  As a separate service this would be charged at a per hour rate *see prices. 
  • Training Your dog will benefit from some basic training and will definitely benefit from socialisation so you will see improvement in their behaviour. I don't do specialised training on group walks as a group environment is not suitable for specific training.
